DDOT Traffic Advisory

This DDOT Traffic Advisory comes to us from John Lisle:

The direct ramp from the bridge to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue will be closed for construction for a good chunk of time, in association with the 11thStreet Bridge Project.

Detour:  Traffic traveling to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue will be detoured onto the existing Good Hope Road ramp.  This detour will be in place through 2011, and motorist can expect additional delays, especially during the afternoon rush hour.  During this detour, traffic signals will be timed to accommodate the new traffic pattern; however, motorists are urged to consider alternative routes.

The closure will increase the size of the work zone and allow DDOT to accelerate work on the 11th Street Bridge Project by approximately six months.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the closure and work will be rescheduled for the same hours the following weekend.

This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, Southeast-Southwest Freeway and Interstate 295/DC 295.

For more information about this work or the 11th Street Bridge Project, please contact DDOT Project Manager Said Cherifi at 202-671-4611or visit www.ddot.dc.gov/11thStreetBridge.
