Loudoun County CDBG Program Earns Praise from National Officials at HUD

Loudoun County’s Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) has been spotlighted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as an example of a successful program.

At a recent event hosted by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, HUD Regional Administrator Jane Vincent highlighted two CDBG projects in Loudoun: the county’s Emergency Homeless Shelter and the renovation of affordable housing rental units near Middleburg.

The purpose of the CDBG program is to help develop viable communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons. Organizations within the community are given the opportunity to compete for these funds through an organized application process.

More information about Loudoun’s CDBG program, which is administered by the Department of Family Services, is online at www.loudoun.gov/cdbg .
