WASHINGTON, D.C.: On May 24, 2011, the DC Public Education Fund’s Young Professional Committee hosts a reception celebrating the work of DC Public Schools student artists at the Mandarin Oriental DC.  The art will be on display in the hotel’s gallery through the end of July.

The Southern Food and Beverage Museum, in partnership with the American Beverage Association, is pleased to announce the launch of the Washington DC Roundtable Series, a series of four monthly public policy discussions taking place in the nation’s capital. The first Roundtable topic, Advances Against Obesity – Key Perspectives and Insights, will take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the McKinley Room at the Capitol Hill Club located at 300 First Street SE. Each Roundtable will be free and open to the public. A reception will follow the discussion and question and answer session in order to allow the attendees to meet the experts on the panel.

Volunteers Join Barefoot Wine & Surfrider Foundation To Keep Anacostia Park “Barefoot Friendly”

The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, now in its fifth year, helps keep beaches, rivers and lakes across America “barefoot friendly.”

In 2011, Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches, along with community volunteers, are embarking on a tour of 20 cleanups nationwide, kicking off in our nation’s capital at Anacostia Park. Following the cleanup, which will take place at Anacostia Park Saturday morning, volunteers 21+ are invited to attend a Surfrider-hosted celebration featuring Barefoot Wine, surf-inspired fare and a live music performance by Brett Dennen.
