WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- What does Comedy Central have planned for this weekend's Rally? They won't say, but the information is included in public documents.
The National Park Service finalized their permit Wednesday morning, and crews soon got to work setting up a stage on the National Mall. Jon Stewart's Rally To Restore Sanity and Stephen Colbert's March to Keep Fear Alive begin at noon and end at 3 p.m. Saturday. What can people expect this weekend?
RALLY SCHEDULE
AFTER-PARTIES AND SPECIALS
ROAD CLOSURES:
- 3rd and 4th Streets will close between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday
- Madison and Jefferson Drives will be closed from 3rd to 7th Street Saturday morning
CELEBRITIES:
- The Roots band will play at noon
- Actor Don Novello appears at 1:30
- Actor Sam Waterson appears at 1:35
- Jeff Tweedy & Mavis Staples perform at 1:40
- Sheryl Crow performs at 2:15
- Many others are still To Be Determined
RESTROOMS:
- 500 portable restrooms
OPTIONAL COSTUMES:
- Colbert is asking people to dress up as their greatest fear
- Stewart is asking people to "be reasonable" with their dress attire
FAMILIES:
- A family friendly area that accommodates 5,000 guests
HUGE STAGE:
- It's a 50' x 40' x 6' stage
- Two huge wings
- LED screens on both sides
CHARITY TENTS:
- Stewart is asking people to donate to the Trust for the National Mall
- Colbert is asking people to donate to Donors Choose
- Proceeds from official merchandise go to the Yellow Ribbon Fund
